Get help

Developing an effective organisational strategy can be tough! Even if you have a strategy project team to share the burden and have contributions from your stakeholders, you may feel, like many organisations do, that you could benefit from some extra help.

There’s a variety of support on strategic planning available, and much is tailored to suit voluntary and community organisations (VCOs).

Types of support for strategic planning

In this section, you’ll find some key sources of:

Infrastructure organisations

The infrastructure organisations we feature in these pages are national bodies supporting all types of VCOs but your local or specialist umbrella body may be able to help you with strategy as well. Locate your local Council for Voluntary Services (CVS) or for specialist support for particular types of organisation, take a look at the Umbrellas Directory.

You can also use the NCVO Support Finder to find strategy support. This online database can be searched by topic, type of support and geography. It includes freelance consultants as well as voluntary sector infrastructure organisations.
