We are currently thinking about…

Natalie, Veronique and I are currently deep into writing the next edition of the Voluntary Sector Strategic Analysis, our annual analysis of the drivers shaping the future of the sector. This year’s edition will focus on the following five themes:

  • National politics – clearly a period of greater uncertainty than at any time since 1997 election (or perhaps even 1992)?
  • The economy – higher on most people’s agenda than it has been for many years and (again) a time of uncertainty (this will also be the topic of a planned Third Sector Foresight seminar in July – watch this space…)
  • Participation – how it’s changing, there are some influential drivers in the policy environment as well as new technology
  • Demographic challenges – focussing particularly on diversity (and ‘super-diversity)
  • Distribution and consumption – how services and information are created, distributed and consumed is changing, there are some interesting social shifts as well as (again) the impact of new technology.

The strategic analysis will be published in September and sent free to all full NCVO members. In the meantime, if you have any questions or ideas to feed in, please email us or post a comment below.
