Ethnic, cultural and religious diversity
Globalisation and international migration have led to an increase in ethnic, cultural and religious diversity in the UK, particularly as recent migrants are from different countries to previous ‘waves’. (See global population movement) In the last census (2001) the ethnic minority population accounted for 8% of the total population including many distinct ethnic and religious groups [1]. Many consider managing diversity to be one of the central challenges of the 21st century.
